Graham Potter has reason to believe. Heading into their Champions League tie with AC Milan on Wednesday night, the Blues had just one point from two games but the London club responded to defeat the Italians 3-0.

It was a much-celebrated victory in London, one which now sees the London club with four points, tied with Milan, and only one behind RB Salzburg. Potter’s boys were better from the get-go. After a warning from Mount and another from Thiago Silva from a corner, Fofana took advantage of the mix-up in the Milan area and the €88 million central defender tapped home to score the first of the night.

Fofana taken off

But misfortune followed and Fofana had to be substituted in the 36th minute with a potential leg injury. Milan forward Rafael Leao jinked his way into the box and fired in a low shot that Kepa could only parry back into the danger area. Rade Krunic then let fly, only for Ben Chilwell to deny the Milan side an equaliser.

Aubameyang quickly doubled Chelsea’s lead in the second half, finishing James’ cross. James then fired home the third to end a good night at Stamford Bridge. With the three points, Chelsea leapfrogged Milan into second place in Group E on goal difference by registering their first win in the group.
