PSV confirm the loan signing of Sergiño Dest from Barcelona: all the contract details
The USMNT defender has made the move away from Barça and will play in the Eredivisie next season.
USMNT defender Sergiño Dest has completed a loan move to Dutch side PSV from Spanish league champions, FC Barcelona.
The full-back, who played on loan last season in Italy for AC Milan, has struggled for minutes at the Spanish side and has never managed to nail down his spot in the first team, despite Barcelona using Joules Koundé, a centre-back, in an unnatural position where Dest would occupy.
Dest’s move to PSV comes after a hugely disappointing spell at AC Milan, where he played just 14 times in the entire season in all competitions, scoring 0 goals and getting 0 assists. A clause in his loan contract gave the UEFA Champions League semi-finalists an opportunity to buy the player for €20 million, but that option was not taken up and Dest subsequently returned to Spain for pre-season preparations.

Now, he has made the move to his native country, where he will fight to regain his form in the 23/24 season. Reports in Spain claim that the deal is a one-year loan with an option to buy the player for €10 million - half of his value agreed with AC Milan last season - upon the conclusion of the contract.
Dest has experience of playing in the Eredivisie, the Dutch league, as he played for Ajax in Amsterdam before moving permanently to Barcelona. He played for them during the 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons, and featured for de Godenzonen 38 times, scoring just 2 and getting 6 assists.
Dest was born in Almere in The Netherlands, but represents the USA internationally due to his father’s heritage. He has played over 20 times for the national team.
