The university side are on track to equal their worst spell without a win in the past decade. In the 2013 Apertura tournament Pumas played 11 games without registering a single victory.

As things stand, Pumas have gone eight consecutive games without recording a win. After 11 games in the current Apertura season, one has to go back to matchday 3 where a slender 1-0 was enough to secure maximum points against Necaxa.

Dani Alves impact

Fans of the club had hoped that the acquisition of Brazilian star Dani Alves would revive the club’s fortunes but sadly that has failed to materialise with the club recording four draws and four losses in the past eight games. As things stand and based on current form, it looks highly that Pumas will miss out on securing a place in the post regular season liguilla.

The current streak mirrors that of the 2013 Apertura when the team started the championship with a 1-1 draw with Puebla, then they lost at home 0-3 to Querétaro, on matchday 3 they tied 0-0 with Toluca only to fall in the next game with Tigres 0-2. Matchday 5 saw a 0-2 defeat away in Tijuana and lost 2-0 before two 1-1 draws with León and then Atlas.

Matchday 8 saw a home defeat (1-4) to Club América followed by a 0-0 with Pachuca. The tenth and eleventh games finished in 1-0 defeats at ho]me top Morelia and away in Guadalajara top Atlas FC.
