There could be a Clásico in the final of the 2024/25 Copa del Rey after Real Madrid and Barcelona were kept apart in the draw for the semifinals.

As ever, the two clubs will be desperate to add to their own trophy hauls, in addition to stopping their bitter rivals from doing so.

Barcelona will take on Atlético Madrid in the last four, with Madrid facing Real Sociedad.

Barcelona and Real Sociedad will be at home in the first leg of the two-legged ties.

Copa del Rey semifinal format and schedule

Unlike the rest of the competition, the semifinals are played over two legs, the first of which will take place in the midweek of Wednesday, February 26. There is a lengthy break until the return legs, which are scheduled for the midweek of Wednesday, April 2.

The 2024/25 Copa del Rey final will be played at La Cartuja in Seville on Saturday, April 26.

Barcelona are the most decorated team in the history of the competition with 31 victories, the last of which came in the 2020/21 season.

Surprisingly, Real Madrid are not next on the all-time list. Los Blancos are behind 24-time winners Athletic Club on 20 triumphs, with their most recent win coming in 2022/23.

Atlético Madrid, the fourth most successful team, will be hoping to win the Spanish cup for the 11th time, while Real Sociedad are chasing only a third victory. The Basque club do, however, have recent experience of lifting the trophy, which they did in 2019/20.
