Real Madrid has successfully laid the foundations for its future by assembling a talented young squad, with more arriving soon. In a recent study conducted by the International Center for Sports Studies (CIES), the market value of the top footballers in the five major leagues was analyzed, revealing that Los Blancos boasts five players among the twenty most valuable players globally. Notably, Vinicius emerges as one of the most valuable players, behind only Erling Haaland, with an estimated worth of €314.9 million (c. $337m). The club’s pursuit of Bellingham, who is also within the top 20, highlights their ambition to further strengthen their squad.

The next Real Madrid evolution: Vinicius plus

This achievement serves as a testament to the potential of Madrid’s current team and the promising future that lies ahead for them. What makes it even more impressive is that all five players in the top 20 are 25 years old or younger: Militao (25, valued at €108 million), Valverde (24, €155.1 million), Vinicius (22, €314.9 million), Rodrygo (22, €184.5 million), and Camavinga (20, €118.4 million). The youngest among them is soon-to-sign Bellingham, who, at 19 years old, is valued at €190.2 million according to the study.

The study takes into account that Bellingham’s contract with Borussia Dortmund expires in 2025. If Real Madrid were to secure a long-term commitment from the Englishman, extending at least three seasons, CIES estimates that his market value would rise to €225 million. The Spanish club’s leverage in negotiations with Dortmund rests on the fact that Bellingham’s contract is relatively short-term, coupled with the player’s interest in joining. These factors aim to lower the €140 million valuation. As a result, the signing of Bellingham appears to be drawing closer with each passing day.

Tchouameni also appears...

Madrid has a clear vision of building its core for the next decade with Bellingham, Camavinga, and Tchouameni. These players are highly valued, with Camavinga already coming in at 22nd in the study, estimated to be worth €90.5 million.

What sets Madrid apart is their remarkable potential, surpassing even the highly influential Manchester City, as they possess a greater number of players among the top 20 most valuable. City, in comparison, has four players (Haaland, Foden, Julián Álvarez, and Rodri) in the list. Other clubs, such as Barcelona (Pedri and Gavi) and Arsenal (Saka and Martinelli), have two players in that category.

It is noteworthy to mention the decrease in 24-year-old Kylian Mbappé's value on the list. The French superstar, due to his decision to remain at PSG, now sits in tenth place with a value of €163.3 million. His contractual uncertainty, with the ability to unilaterally terminate his contract in 2024, has influenced his market value. Madrid, just as they have prepared for Haaland, is strategically positioning themselves for the summer when they can make their move.

Exciting times ahead at the Santiago Bernabéu.
