Real Madrid confirm Ferland Mendy ruled out with injury for Manchester City return leg
Mendy made a rare start against City at the Bernabéu but was forced off at half time in the first leg.

Real Madrid have released the medical report for defender Ferland Mendy after he was forced off at halftime during their Champions League round-of-16 first leg against Manchester City at the Santiago Bernabéu.
What injury does Ferland Mendy have?
The French fullback initially left the match complaining of cramps, but tests carried out afterward revealed a muscle injury to the biceps femoris in his right hamstring.

Real Madrid expecting Mendy to miss key games
According to the club, Mendy’s recovery timeline will depend on how the injury progresses. However, he is already ruled out of the return leg at the Etihad Stadium, a scenario that had been widely anticipated.
He is also expected to miss the upcoming Madrid derby against Atlético Madrid. If that timeline holds, the defender may not return to action until after the upcoming international break.

Injury interrupts standout performance
Mendy had started against City and delivered a near flawless first half, effectively neutralizing attacking threats from Savinho and Antoine Semenyo.
But once again, his body failed to hold up. At halftime, Álvaro Arbeloa replaced him with Fran García. After the game, the Madrid head coach had already hinted the injury could be serious.
“He’s hurt, yes. It doesn’t look good,” Arbeloa said. “I appreciate the effort he made. Playing him in two straight games after such a long layoff carried some risk. I took that risk, and I’m grateful for what he gave us.”
