The Real Madrid dressing room is concerned about the 43 goals (31 from Benzema and 12 from Asensio) that have walked out the club this summer. They consider that the arrival of a top player is necessary to make the first post-Karim season more palatable. The club is currently taking the view that it will not agree to an outlay of 100 million on Harry Kane, who will turn 30 on July 28. And, as if that were not enough, the figure of Mbappé has appeared again after a video took over social media at the weekend in which Florentino Pérez, as he left a restaurant, was asked by a fan if he was going to sign the Frenchman. The reply was emphatic: “Yes... but not this year.”

Nacho calls for Kane-Mbappé swoop

With this in mind, Spanish program El Chiringuito interviewed Nacho on Monday as he was on duty with the Spain national team. The newly installed first captain of Los Blancos was blunt when asked about Kylian.

“What am I going to tell you about Mbappé? ...hopefully. If it were up to me, he would come in this summer. Important players like Karim have left us and we need goals. Harry Kane would be a perfect fit this summer and Mbappé the next...”

Ancelotti, as reported by AS, believes that right now the perfect signing would be the deadly England and Tottenham striker. The Mbappé thing is shelved until 2024 (Florentino and Carletto agree on that), since he would arrive in Madrid for free thanks to his PSG release clause.

So, Nacho has publicly shown the concern because he had assumed that the first captaincy forces him to take even more involvement in issues that may affect the team. At 33 years old, he has always been a club man and already had to suffer the loss of Cristiano Ronaldo leaving in 2018, when the team saw three coaches (Lopetegui, Solari and Zidane) and only one title (Club World Cup) as well as a painful elimination from the Champions League at the Bernabéu against Ajax (1-4).

Nacho has raised his voice on behalf of the group: Madrid needs goals like the players need food. It’s time to crack open the savings bank...
