Lucas Vázquez injury forces Real Madrid into defensive change against Barcelona
Carlo Ancelotti will be forced into making a change at right-back as Lucas Vázquez is set for over a month out with an injury suffered in the penalty shoot-out semi-final win agianst Valencia. Young Real Madrid Castilla starlet Vinícius Tobias could be his replacement. Eduardo Camavinga also picked up a knock in the semi-final although Luka Modric should come back into the team anyway, even if the Frenchman is fit. Neither David Alaba nor Aurélien Tchouaméni were included in the squad for the tournament because of fitness issues.
Frenkie de Jong and Ousmane Dembélé fit to face Real Madrid
Xavi is thought to be considering a move to a 4-4-2 system with four central midfielders rather than his ‘usual’ 4-3-3 formation. Frenkie de Jong and Ousmane Dembélé are expected to be fit despite being forced off in the second half in the semi-final against Betis, which Barça also won on penalties. Like Modric, Sergio Busquets didn’t start in midweek but is set to come back into the side, with wide man Raphinha likely to drop down to the bench. Uruguayan defender Ronaldo Araújo is likely to start at right-back rather that in central defence to combat the threat of Vinícius Júnior.
