Riquelme: “We are hoping to get Frank Fabra’s renewal over the line”
The vice president of Boca Juniors assured that in the next few days the left-back’s new contract will be signed.
Frank Fabra is set to continue at Boca Juniors. The left-back - who has just become not only a league champion but the Colombian with the most titles at Xeneize - is close to renewing his contract with the team. The player still has one year left on his contract, since his current deal lasts until December 2023.
Juan Román Riquelme, vice president of the Argentinian side, spoke on Radio La Red and assured that in next week the contract will be sorted out once the meetings with the Colombian’s representatives are concluded. Boca Juniors, who have just been eliminated from the Argentinian Cup, are also close to agreeing a new deal for Peruvian defender Carlos Augusto Zambrano.
“This week we hope to finalise the renewals of Frank Fabra and Carlos Zambrano with their representatives”, assured Riquelme, who weeks ago had praised the player after his performance against Gimnasia y Esgrima de la Plata, which was a crucial game in the club’s fight for the title.
In 2022, the left-back, who is also one of the squad’s captains, played 46 games for Boca Juniors in all competitions. The player achieved 3 goals and 6 assists. In the last match of the season, the player was absent due to a sore knee.
The next challenge for Frank Fabra and Boca Juniors will be the weekend of 6 November when the Championship Trophy is the prize. Tigre and Racing will determine who will be the Xeneize’s rival in search of a new title.
