The bad news keeps on coming for Barcelona, who haven’t had the best week either on or off the field. As was initially reported by Relevo and confirmed by AS, Robert Lewandowski suffered a hamstring strain during the weekend defeat to Almería and could face up to two weeks on the sidelines. This means he will miss Thursday’s Copa del Rey semi-final first-leg clash against Real Madrid at Estadio Santiago Bernabéu and Sunday’s LaLiga fixture versus Valencia at Camp Nou.

Dembélé and Pedri will also miss Real Madrid cup game

The Pole’s absence will come as a huge blow to Xavi Hernández, who will also be unable to call upon Ousmane Dembélé and Pedri for the cup tie. On flip side, Ansu Fati will be available after missing the Europa League defeat to Manchester United because of a minor knee issue.

Sunday's defeat to Almería has seen Barcelona's lead at the top of LaLiga cut to seven points.

Two Clásicos on the horizon for Barça

The striker’s injury couldn’t come as a worse time for Barça, who are looking to turn their form back around again as quickly as possible after consecutive defeats to United and Almería, and with two Clásicos against Real Madrid, which could make or break their season, just around the corner.

Lewandowski will definitely not feature in Thursday’s cup game against Madrid although he should be back to full fitness in time for the LaLiga clash between the sides on 19 March. Dembélé and Pedri are also expected to be back in time for that fixture at Camp Nou.
