Roger Martínez’s days numbered at América
The Colombian player will become a free agent in the summer.
Roger Martínez’s spell at América is set to come to an end. The Colombian player hasn’t performed as expected and the club will not renew his contract, making him a free agent in the coming months.
According to TUDN, Martínez will leave América no matter what happens in the current campaign. The report adds that he may not play for the rest of the campaign.

It is worth remembering that in 2020 Martínez angered América fans with a controversial statement he made. “I only said that if an offer came in they would listen to it. It’s not a crime that a player wants to go and play in Europe.
“I don’t know what decision they (the board) have taken, but I’m not injured, I’m training well, I’m at 100 percent. I feel like I’m living an injustice because we all train to try to play at the weekend and it’s the coach’s decision,’’ Martinez told Fox Sports.

In addition to the fact that he did not perform on the pitch, América will lose money due to his departure. In 2018 they spent almost €9m on the player who they will now lose on a free.
