A few days before the end of their Leagues Cup run, the Club América board are still looking for reinforcements to strengthen the team’s squad for the Apertura 2023. One of the options that the board looked at was defender Sergio Ramos, who is currently a free agent.

According to information from Diario Récord, the board traveled to Spain to speak to brothers Sergio and René Ramos, who is the representative of the former Paris Saint-Germain player. However, the Spanish defender has financial demands that the Mexican club are unable to match.

MLS clubs interested in Ramos

The same outlet reveals that Ramos has two offers from MLS clubs and another from Saudi Arabia, where they would be willing to pay a large fee to sign the defender. If Ramos were to move to Liga MX, the 2010 World Cup winner would be the highest paid player in the history of Mexican football, ahead of André-Pierre Gignac and Sergio Canales.

Another of the clubs that tried to sign the former Real Madrid player was Inter Miami, however, the MLS side could no longer do so because they ran out of ‘franchise player’ quotas.
