Update:

With plenty to play for across all competitions in the current soccer European season, thoughts are already turning to the season ahead and Spanish soccer fans are dreaming of a possible scenario where ten LaLiga sides grace European competitions next season.

Spain is nominally allocated seven places for UEFA club competitions, however given that Laiga has overtaken Serie A in the UEFA club coefficient ranking, as things stand, five sides will compete in the 2025/26 Champions League. This would see the sixth placed team and Copa del Rey winner progress to the Europa League but if the cup winner is already in the top five (semifinalists are Real Madrid, Atletico, Barça and Real Sociedad), yet another place opens and the seventh placed team would play in the UEL.

These circumstances would see the team that finishes the 24/25 season in eighth place secure a berth in the UEFA Conference League.

The above scenarios are relatively plausible but Spain could even be awarded a further two further European places should Real Sociedad win the Europa League and Real Betis win the Conference League, and neither of these sides finish in the top seven La Liga.

A tall order possibly, but never before in the history of European club competitions has 50% of a domestic league participated in the major UEFA club competitions with a crazy situation that could see six Spanish teams in the Champions League (top five plus Real Sociedad).
