Two points separates the salvation and relegation in the Premier League. Two match days are left for both Tottenham and West Ham and the Opta Supercomputer has made it’s prediction of which club will be playing in the Championship next year.

Opta sides with Spurs

Tottenham did themselves a small favor with their draw against Leeds United on Monday night, but three points would have essentially secured salvation for Roberto De Zerbi’s side. Instead they shared the spoils and left the door cracked open for West Ham to make a comeback in the final two match days of the season.

West Ham had to play the league leaders, Arsenal, at London Stadium on Sunday and almost took a point from the Gunners. A stoppage time goal from Callum Wilson was disallowed after a VAR review deemed Arsenal keeper David Raya was interfered with and West Ham left it in the hands of Leeds to keep their season alive for the final couple weeks of the season.

Now, with two weeks matches to go the all knowing, all telling Opta Supercomputer has given it’s predictions on which London based club will be staying and who which be dropping. Trailing Spurs by two points after match day 36, West Ham have the longest shot to save themselves. According to the Supercomputer have an 81.3% chance of being relegated while Spurs only have an 18.7% chance.

Who has tougher schedule?

Tottenham looked like they were in serious trouble a month ago, but Roberto De Zerbi has come in and turned things around in the last few weeks. After losing his debut following the last international break, he’s won two and drawn two picking up 8 of 15 available points to jump West Ham for 17th.

West Ham is in 18th, but coming out of the international break in April they seemed to be in the drivers seat in the race for salvation. Back to back losses have allowed Tottenham to replace them above the drop zone and now they have their backs against the wall heading into the final two games of the season.

Both clubs will end their season with an away match and a home match to close out the season. West Ham will travel to St. James’ Park to take on Newcastle before ending the season against Leeds who have secured a place in next year’s Premier League. Tottenham have to travel to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea before hosting Everton to close out the season. Of the two schedules Chelsea and Everton could be a tougher run in considering both clubs have an outside chance of Conference League.
