This is the South American star on Cruz Azul’s Apertura 2025 shopping list
Having appointed Nicolas Larcamón as the team’s new head coach, Cruz Azul is out to bolster its roster as it targets a 10th Liga MX title.
On July 12, Cruz Azul kicks off its Liga MX Apertura 2025 campaign against Mazatlán at the Estadio Olímpico Universitario. Los Celestes are aiming for their tenth Mexican league title and, with this goal in mind, are looking to strengthen their squad with high-caliber players.
Nicolás Larcamón was officially introduced as the new head coach on Monday, and the team is now waiting for new signings and national team players to gradually rejoin the squad.
Uruguayan reinforcement for Cruz Azul roster?
One name that has resurfaced as a potential target for Cruz Azul is Giorgian de Arrascaeta. The 31-year-old Uruguayan has had a stellar career in Brazilian soccer, playing for Cruzeiro and currently Flamengo.
De Arrascaeta has won two Brasileirão titles and two Copa Libertadores. He would add significant talent to the midfield, especially following the injury to Andrés Montaño.
What is Cruz Azul’s preseason schedule?
Cruz Azul will participate in a four-team tournament in Morelos from June 20 to 22. Club León, Chivas Guadalajara and Atlante will also feature at the Estadio Agustín ‘Coruco’ Díaz.
From June 27 to 29, Larcamón’s men will then compete in the Copa Bienestar in Zacatecas, against Mineros, Chivas and Santos Laguna.
Additionally, Cruz Azul will play in another quadrangular competition at the Estadio Luis Pirata Fuente in Veracruz, from July 1 to 6. In addition to Mazatlán, the event will involve Argentinians Newell’s Old Boys and Colombia’s Once Caldas and Mazatlán.
