This World Cup-winning LaLiga star could be on his way to PSG
While Paris Saint-Germain’s focus is on the UCL final for now, the French giants are also plotting major transfer activity this summer.

Until the season wraps and the Champions League final is in the books, Paris Saint-Germain will not fast-track any moves in the upcoming transfer window. Still, the first names to bolster the Parisian project are already coming into focus - among them Julián Álvarez, a player who could emerge as one of the summer’s headline acts. PSG have the Atlético Madrid forward firmly on their shortlist as they look to strengthen their attack for next season.
PSG boss an Álvarez admirer
The World Cup winner is a specific request from PSG head coach Luis Enrique, who has long admired the forward and even tried to lure him to Paris two years ago. Álvarez turned down PSG at the time and ultimately joined Atlético. In recent weeks, however, sources close to the Argentine have hinted that a summer transfer is on the table, sparking interest across Europe’s elite clubs.
The battle for the reigning European champions - who can retain their crown on May 30 in Budapest - promises to be fierce, with Arsenal and Barcelona also signaling their intent to secure his services. Luis Enrique’s presence could tip the balance in PSG’s favor. His style of play and the impressive work he’s doing in the French capital are compelling factors that may weigh heavily in the River Plate academy product’s decision.
A coach who is on the verge of signing a four-year extension, Luis Enrique remains focused on PSG’s run-in before turning his attention to the transfer market, where he aims to reinforce a team that has been rewriting the record books in Europe over the past two seasons. The highly likely departure of Gonçalo Ramos makes attacking reinforcements a necessity this summer. Álvarez fits the bill perfectly for the French side, both for his quality and his ability to perform across multiple roles in the attack.

Álvarez’s stats this season
Despite not lifting any silverware this season and enduring a brief dip midway through the campaign, his numbers are convincing. Álvarez has recorded 29 goal contributions - 20 goals and nine assists - across all competitions in 2025/26. Barring a surprise, he will start for Argentina, the reigning world champions, at this summer’s World Cup. Europe’s top clubs, PSG among them, will do everything in their power to sign him. It’s a long-distance race Paris are determined to win - especially with Luis Enrique so enamored of the Argentine’s style.
