Tigres have locked in their second reinforcement for the Liga MX’s upcoming Apertura 2025 tournament, landing Mexican forward Édgar López.

A Liga MX winner with Toluca

Sources close to the club confirmed to AS México that the Monterrey-based side has acquired López on a one-year loan deal from Toluca, with an option to buy.

Nicknamed “Gacelo,” the 26-year-old striker is expected to report to Tigres in the coming days to begin preparations for the new season.

López tallied 13 goals and four assists in 85 appearances for Toluca, and was part of the squad that captured the Clausura 2025 title under head coach Antonio Mohamed.

Tigres also eyeing midfield signing

So far, López joins Ángel Correa - who joined from Spanish club Atlético Madrid last month - as the only confirmed additions to the Tigres roster.

The club remains in the market for a defensive midfielder after ending its interest in Luis Chávez due to injury concerns.
