Toluca’s 20-year home drought

An unfavorable stat for the Red Devils going back 20 years.

Ciudad de MéxicoUpdate:
Toluca’s 20-year home drought
Jose Luis Melgarejo

Toluca will play the 14th final in their history when they face Los Tuzos of Pachuca for the Apertura 2022 title. With official schedules still to be finalised, the first leg of the final series will be played on Wednesday 26 October at Toluca’s Estadio Nemesio Diez and the trophy will be awarded on Sunday 29 October at the Estadio Hidalgo.

One discouraging fact that could complicate things for the Red Devils is that they have been unable to take advantage of home advantage in finals on their own turf and in front of their own fans. The last time there was a Choricero triumph at home was in the 2002 Apertura Final, 20 years ago, when they beat Morelia 4-1.
