Twitter and meme reactions to Shakira and Karol G’s new song

The Colombian duo took aim at former partners Gerard Piqué and Anuel AA in a new track called Te Quedó Grande, or TQG.

Update:
Así reaccionaron las celebridades a la nueva canción de Shakira con Karol G

Little over a month since Shakira released the now-iconic BZRP Music Sessions #53 on YouTube, the Colombian songstress is back with another post-break-up banger, this time with the help of Karol G.

A fellow Colombian, Karol G has also gone through a pretty rough and very public break-up recently and the pair collaborated on a diss duet that dropped in the early hours of Friday morning. Here’s how the internet reacted to ‘Te Quedo Grande’, or ‘I’m Big Enough For You’.

All eyes on Shakira and Karol G’s new track

The Spanish speaking world has been captivated by the ongoing drama between Shakira and Gerard Piqué, who announced their divorce early last year. One of the most famous artists in the world had been married to the former FC Barcelona and Spain defender for more than a decade.

TQG an instant hit for Shakira

Not only has Shakira got through a relationship split recently, but her compatriot Karol G has also recently broken off her romance with Puerto Rican rapper and singer Anuel AA. Both Shakira and Karol G were in a similar position after a very public break-up following their other half’s infidelity and the two decided to collaborate on a song.

The song was released on Karol G’s new album and it appears that it was her who wrote most of the song, offering it to Shakira. Fresh from a break-up with Piqué, Shakira clearly shared the sentiments expressed by Karol G.

Shakira’s career in music videos

She has had a two-decade stint as one of the most popular artists in the world and Shakira’s music videos have always been iconic. The video for TQG, which dropped at the same time as the track became available on the album, seems to make reference to some of her most iconic video outings from her extensive back catalogue.

She even references some previous collaborations, like that with Rihanna for ‘Can’t Remember to Forget You’ in 2014.

Song takes aim at Piqué and Anuel

Shakira clearly has a penchant for break-up diss tracks and this collaboration with Karol G puts both of their exes firmly in the crosshairs. After the BZRP track was released last month Piqué made numerous references to it while promoting his Kings League streamers’ football tournament, joking about his new-found love for Casio and the Renault Twingo.

It remains to be seen if he will find this second iteration quite so humorous.
