When the World Cup groups were announced, soccer fans around the world started predicting the teams that would end up in the top spots and those squads that would make it to the round of 16.

In some of those sections, teams like England, Argentina, Germany, or Brazil seemed the obvious pick to advance to the next round easily. Still, the tournament has proven once again to be quite unpredictable, with the shocking defeats of La Albiceleste and Die Mannschaft, which put them in a difficult situation.

However, it seems to be a common opinion that Group H is probably the most difficult to predict since all four teams seem to have chances of grabbing tickets to the round of 16.

Uruguay vs South Korea: odds

Uruguay and South Korea will be going head-to-head in what has been called the ‘group of death’, where Portugal and Ghana will also be looking to grab a spot among the 16 best teams in the world.

Luis Suárez and co. are entering the tournament with confidence, as they have recorded quite a few good results lately.

La Celeste are favourites to get started with a victory, priced at 8/11 (1.72) with bet365, while their Asian opponents are available at 21/4 (5.25) and the draw at 5/2 (3.50).

Uruguay vs South Korea: prediction

Diego Alonso’s men will try to win convincingly against South Korea. Before losing their last game vs. Iran, the South American team had won six consecutive games and drawn one.

The Uruguayan coach has ‘rejuvenated’ the team in terms of confidence after replacing veteran Óscar Tabárez.

Moreover, key players Federico Valverde, Rodrigo Betancourt, and Darwin Núñez are in strong form, not to mention Luis Suárez’s warrior spirit that will give Uruguay a boost of danger up front.

South Korea have a talented squad and after witnessing the two shocking losses of Argentina and Germany in their opening games, a third upset can’t be ruled out.

Their main star, Son Heung-min, seems ready to play the game, which will probably have a positive impact up front for Paulo Bento’s players.

Prediction: Uruguay 2-1 South Korea
