For the first time in history, the FIFA World Cup will be played in the winter due to the extreme heat in Qatar during the summer. The tournament is less than 50 days away from starting and ticket sales have been going through the roof worldwide.

Some fans might have purchased more tickets than they need and others are trying to get tickets for their favourite matches. In these cases the Resale Platform will be a great help for them,” Hassan Rabia Al Kuwari, Executive Director of Sales, Marketing and Communication for FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, said, while speaking to Qatar Radio.

At the beginning stage when the registration opened, we received about 40 million applications for tickets. So far, in the last stage, about 2.5 million tickets have been sold. Since Qatar will host the mega sporting event, under last minute-sale phase, individual match tickets are available in all four price categories, with category 4 tickets reserved for residents of Qatar including citizens and expatriates,” added Al Kuwari.

Americans will show full support to the USMNT

FIFA is urging fans who will be traveling to the Middle East to visit FIFA.com/tickets to purchase tickets before they sell out. The country with the most ticket sales is Qatar, with almost one million, since they are the only team that will be making their debut in the tournament.

In second place is the United States, with almost 147,00 tickets bought to support the USMNT in their return to a World Cup after missing out four years ago. So the United States men’s national team will be well backed in Qatar and they are expected to qualify for the knockout stages.
