USYNT looking for win over Burkina Faso to progress at U-17 World Cup

Following an opening day win over South Korea, Gonzalo Segares’ side will be looking to cement their place in the Round of 16 with a win over Burkina Faso in Group E.

Following a solid opening performance from the USYNT at the U-17 World Cup in Indonesia as fifteen-year-old forward Nimfasha Berchimas bagged two goals with Cruz Medina adding a third in a 3-1 win over Korea Republic, thoughts now turn to the second game in Group E.

A win over Burkina Faso in Jakarta on Wednesday would mathematically see Gonzalo Segares’ young team secure a berth in the Round of 16 of the competition with the top two teams from each group advancing in the tournament with the four best third placed sides also progressing to the Round of 16.

The African side come into the game desperately in need of a positive result following their opening game ending in a 3-0 defeat to the highly fancied French side.

United States vs Burkina Faso

Gonzalo Segares’ side now face Burkina Faso in the second game same setting as their debut this Sunday. This match will take place on Wednesday, 15 November at 4:00 a.m. ET/1:00 a.m. PT) in the United States.

The US conclude their Group E campaign with the game against France on 18 November.

Round of 16

In the event that Team USA qualifies for the Round of 16 of the Under 17 World Cup, Gonzalo Segares’ team would be in action in the Round of 16 on Monday, November 20 or Tuesday, November 21 with the kick-off time and venue of the game depending in the position that the team secures in the group stage.
