LALIGA SANTANDER
What did the Osasuna fans throw at Rodrygo during the LaLiga Santander game against Osasuna?
The Brazilian winger had an object thrown at him from the stands of El Sadar in the LaLiga fixture.
El Sadar is normally a difficult place to go due to the high-intensity, all-action football that Osasuna play there. It is one of those typical stadiums that seems to have no noise limit: the fans scream for tackles as though they were goals and they support the team no matter what. A true leap back in time in the best of senses; no cheese boards or complimentary bubbly, just ham, cheese and a bit of bread.
It all sounds great, until the fans decide to take it too far. Before the game, Vinicius was hurled abuse during the minute of silence that was otherwise impeccably observed. And then it was Rodrygo, Madrid’s other Brazilian winger, who was the subject of abuse, but this time it was physical.
What was thrown at Rodrygo?
Around 65 minutes, the referee stopped the game after a sandwich was thrown at Rodrygo. The referee, Munuera Montero, stopped the game and took the object from the pitch to a member of staff on the sidelines, where it was promptly announced over the stadium’s PA system that objects should not be thrown onto the field of play.
Will the fan get a punishment? Will they be banned?
The normal thing that usually happens during an incident like this is that the club may receive a fine for being unable to control the behaviour of their fans. Whether or not the fan is banned is a club matter and will be dealt with as such.
