What does the future hold for Brighton’s Evan Ferguson? Man City and Man Utd interested
Premier League clubs are monitoring Brighton striker Evan Ferguson.
Evan Ferguson made his debut for Irish club Bohemians in a friendly against Chelsea in Dublin at the age of 14.
The Dalymount Park fixture was Frank Lampard’s first game in charge of the Premier League club in the summer of 2019.
Ferguson, not long out of Primary school, caught the eye after being introduced in the 67th minute and helped the North Dublin club score an 89th-minute equaliser.
Ferguson’s rise to stardom has been rapid and he currently leads the line in Roberto De Zerbi’s high-flying Brighton side.
Premier League interest in Ferguson
Due to his performances this season, the 18-year-old has caught the attention of other Premier League sides.
Manchester United are interested in signing the striker, who operates between the No 9 role and No 10 role under De Zerbi.
As reported by the Irish Independent, despite all the interest, Ferguson is expected to commit his future to Brighton and turn down the opportunity to join the Old Trafford club.
Tottenham, who have a history of signing Irish strikers, are also keen on the player from County Meath.
Spurs see him as a long-term replacement for Harry Kane, a player who has been linked with United.
City among suitors
Manchester City and Chelsea are among the suitors for the Irish international, but the most significant interest is from Manchester United, where club representatives have already made their interest known to Brighton.
In talks with Brighton
Ferguson and his entourage are in advanced talks about a new deal at Brighton just six months after he signed a long-term contract that ties him down until 2026.
In the Premier League this season, he has scored four goals and provided two assists in 13 games and doesn’t turn 19 until October.
