Manchester United travel to Sevilla on Thursday aiming to book their place in the Europa League semi-finals.

United midfielder Bruno Fernandes will miss the trip to the Andalusian capital through suspension after picking up a booking in the first half of last week’s first leg.

Centre-back Lisandro Martínez has been ruled out for the season following the metatarsal fracture he suffered at the end of the 2-2 draw with Sevilla at Old Trafford.

Head coach Erik ten Hag will also be without Martínez’s usual central defensive partner Raphael Varane, who is likely to be out of action for several weeks.

United players return from injury

Luke Shaw has not played in the club’s last three matches but could make a return at left-back, while Marcus Rashford has been suffering from a muscle injury and may start on the bench for United.

Marcel Sabitzer could be called back into the starting eleven and join Casemiro and Christian Eriksen in midfield for the second leg at the Sánchez Pizjuán after a recent injury saw him miss the Premier League win over Nottingham Forest.

Ten Hag’s possible XI vs Sevilla

Ten Hag could go with the following XI in Seville:

De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, Lindelof, Shaw; Casemiro, Eriksen, Sabitzer; Antony, Martial, Sancho.
