Update:

Real Madrid forward Rodrygo has suffered a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament and a rupture of the lateral meniscus and will miss the rest of the season for Real Madrid and the upcoming World Cup.

News of a knee injury surfaced the day after José Bordalas’s side stunned the 15-time European champions at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu, winning 0-1 thanks to a stunning goal from Martín Satriano in the first half.

Rodrygo did not start the game in the Spanish capital but was an early change in the second half as manager Álvaro Arbeloa rolled the dice as he looked to get back into the game. Unfortunately for Madrid, they were unable to break down a resolute Getafe side and are now 4 points behind Barcelona in the title race.

Medical staff examined the player after the final whistle and the tests carried on throughout the next morning, with the news coming around midday confirming the worst.

He will now be out for around 7 months.

Rodrygo has played 19 times this season in LaLiga, scoring once and registering 4 assists. In the Champions League, he has played 5 times, scored once, and provided 2 assists.

The pressure is now piling up even further on Arbeloa, who is without Mbappé, Bellingham, Militão, Ceballos, and Asencio.
