Update:

As AC Milan prepares for a clash with Juventus, they will do so knowing that they can count on the services of one of their most talented players. With that, there is reason to be cheerful in the capital as they look to leapfrog the Turin-based outfit who sit just one point above them in the Serie A table.

Milan receive good news about Christian Pulisic’s injury

When Christian Pulisic limped off the field at halftime in AC Milan’s clash with Como on Tuesday the concern was evident. Indeed, the winger has been one of the Rossoneri’s best players this season, scoring 10 goals while providing seven assists across all competitions. Milan was ultimately able to secure a 1-2 away win but again, many were thinking of their talisman who came out worse for wear after a collision with Como defender Marc-Oliver Kempf.

Truthfully the injury looked severe but reports have now confirmed that tests later revealed that Pulisic did not suffer a muscle tear in his left calf as was originally thought. It is understood that the USMNT captain is only dealing with muscle fatigue. This is of course very good news for both Pulisic and AC Milan when considering that the 26-year-old had only just returned from a calf injury that kept him sidelined for a month. In the four matches that he played after returning, he contributed two goals while helping his team to secure the Italian Cup

Nonetheless, AC Milan still has their work cut out for them though a win on Saturday, January 18th could go a long way toward changing their fortunes. Though the team currently sits 7th in the standings with 19 points, there is only one point between them and first-placed Napoli who have 20. Incidentally, Juventus who also have 20 is the side that Milan recently defeated 1-2 in the Italian Super Cup semifinals following a Pulisic-inspired comeback.

It’s worth noting that the status update on Pulisic is by no means a confirmation that he will start for Milan when they take on the ‘Old Lady’ this weekend, but at the very least fans should be able to count on his participation in what is definitely an important match. On the other hand, there is the chance that manager Sérgio Conceição opts for a more cautious approach, choosing instead to save his star for the Champions League match against Girona which will be played on January 22nd.
