Real Madrid begin pre-season ahead of the 2023-24 campaign today with those who did not feature in the last international break and new signing Jude Bellingham training at Valdebebas for the first time. The Englishman will be put through his paces after completing his move to Los Blancos from Borussia Dortmund.

Bellingham returning from injury

The Englishman finished the season at Dortmund with knee problems and as a precaution was not included in the England squad for the last international games, in which Gareth Southgate’s team played two matches in the qualifiers for the European Championship (against Malta and North Macedonia). Madrid’s intention is that he is brought back to fitness with caution. He has just enjoyed his summer holidays and today will meet some of his new team-mates.

Ready for El Clásico

Bellingham will undergo the usual tests at the start of his preparations, although club doctors at Madrid are well aware of his condition, as he only recently underwent a medical prior to his signing. The idea of the club, if everything goes according to plan, is that he will be ready for El Clásico in Dallas on 29 July (the penultimate stop on the American tour), the ideal stage for his Real Madrid debut.
