Panama vs Costa Rica: CNL quarter-final preview
Panama and Costa Rica are meeting in the last eight for the second Nations League in a row. When the two countries faced off in the 2023/24 quarter-finals, the Panamanians swept to a dominant victory, scoring three times in each leg to triumph 6-1 on aggregate.
So far, this year’s quarter-final clash is proving a closer affair: the Panamanians take a 1-0 lead into the second leg in Panama City, courtesy of José Fajardo’s second-half penalty in San José last Thursday.
The winners of the tie will not only progress to the Nations League finals, which are to be played on March 20 to 23 in Los Angeles; they will also book their spot at the 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup, which will be hosted by the United States and Canada next June and July.
