Real Madrid icons Cristiano Ronaldo and Luka Modric reunite as Portugal host Croatia in Group A1 in League 1 of the 2024/25 UEFA Nations League.
The 2024/25 UEFA Nations League gets underway on Thursday (September 5), with Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal taking on Luka Modric’s Croatia on matchday 1 at Estádio da Luz in Lisbon.
39-year-old Ronaldo has opted not to retire from international duty after a below-par performance at Euro 2024, in which he failed to score. Portugal started the tournament well with back-to-back victories in the group stage, but lost to Georgia, only sneaked past Slovenia on penalties before losing to France in a shootout in the quarterfinals.
Croatia also endured a disappointing tournament. The were one of two third-placed teams in the group stage not to progress to the round of 16, with a late equaliser for Italy in their final group game knocking them out.
