LIGA MX
When was the last time Club América played a Liga MX game away from the Estadio Azteca?
Las Águilas will face Querétaro at La Corregidora stadium, making it the club’s first away game after a run of eight consecutive home fixtures.
After what feels like forever, Club América will finally play outside the Azteca stadium when they face Querétaro in a previously postponed game that was originally set to played on match day two of the Apertura 2023 season.
Las Águilas will visit La Corregidora after more than four months without playing a Liga MX match away from their beloved home, the Coloso de Santa Úrsula.
Between postponed games, untimely changes of venue and last minute calendar adjustments, the schedule has been extremely kind to Las Águilas, allowing them to play eight consecutive games at the Azteca stadium.
When was América’s last away game?
The last time that the team played a game away from home was in the first leg semi-final of the Clausura 2023 league, which took place on May 18 of this year, against Chivas, at the Akron stadium. That night, the azulcremas won 1-0.
After that match, América were eliminated from the tournament and in the Apertura 2023, they started playing by at home, losing to FC Juárez.
Six consecutive games came after that for América, five of them at home, and one more due to an administrative quirk, against Cruz Azul.
It will not be until tonight, against Los Gallos Blancos, when, finally, América play a game of the current season away from the Coloso de Santa Úrsula.
