I am really excited to be at a club as big as Real Madrid and I expect to do well here”. Linda Caicedo’s time at one of the biggest clubs in world soccer began on Friday 24 February when she officially signed for the Spanish giants. And four days later, on Tuesday 28, she took to the training field for the very first time.

The best South American soccer player of 2022 completed her first session at RM City in Valdebebas, which was documented online by the club’s social media team.

“Taking to the #RMCity field for the first time!”, read Real Madrid’s post on Twitter, accompanied by a video of the 18-year-old Colombian making her way from the locker room down to the training field. Little more is known about what she did during the session, with no news having come out as to whether she trained with the rest of her new teammates or worked individually.

When could Caicedo make her first appearance for Real Madrid?

After a three-week break, Real Madrid Femenino are back in league action next weekend when they travel to Alhama on Saturday 4 March (kick-off at 12.15pm ET), a game in which Caicedo could make her debut for the club. Should she ultimately not appear in that clash, the Colombian star’s first appearances in a white shirt could instead come on Thursday 9 March when Alberto Toril’s side visit Villarreal (kick-off at 3pm ET) in the quarter-finals of the Copa de la Reina.

When could Caicedo play in her first Clásico?

There are more big away games coming up for Real Madrid in the next few weeks, as they take on city rivals Atlético Madrid on Sunday 12 March before a crucial Liga F clash at Barcelona on Saturday 25 March. The Catalans are five points ahead of Caicedo’s new team having won all of their 19 league matches so far; anything other than a win for Madrid is likely to ensure another league title for Barça.
