Manchester City managed to get past Inter in the final of the 2022/23 Champions League, closing off a famous campaign which saw them seal the historic treble. But, as is the way in football, things never stop moving, and it only took seconds for the questions about futures to come flying in once the referee had blown his whistle for full time in Turkey.

Gundogan and Bernardo Silva are the two players who are in the spotlight right now, as the pair have repeatedly been linked with moves away from Manchester. The German’s contract is about to end and the Portuguese star has been linked with leaps to PSG and Barça; neither or them have their future secured.

PSG and Barcelona are keen on signing Bernardo Silva

Bernardo Silva, who still has a contract at Manchester City, spoke to Téléfoot about his future on the pitch at Istanbul. “Honestly, I don’t know if today’s game is my last for City. We will see what happens over the next few weeks and months. Now we have to celebrate and enjoy the Champions League, we have done something special”, said the player who left his future wide open and did not confirm if he would part of Pep’s plans next year.

PSG are the team who are reportedly the most keen on acquiring the services of the player, according to reports from France. His transfer will not be easy, as PSG will be forced to negotiate with City in order to figure out a fee. Another team who has shown interest in the player is Barcelona. The economic situation of the Spanish club makes things unlikely that they will be able to compete with PSG in terms of money, which means that if he leaves England it will probably be for France.

City player refuse to say if they will stay at the club

Laporte also spoke about the future of the Portuguese player: “with everything that he has given to this club, everything he gives to football, he deserves to be happy, whatever he decides. Wherever he chooses to play next year will be the best decision for him, we will be happy.”

He wasn’t the only player to speak. Gundogan, who on July 1 will not have a team, also spoke about his future: “I am very happy. My future? I don’t know yet. I still haven’t taken a decision on my future.” Julián Álvarez, who renewed with City earlier in the season, strangely also refused to confirm his future: “I am very happy, it was an incredible year. Now I have to go to the national team, then I’ll go on holiday and we’ll see what happens.”
