Update:

Manchester United have returned to pre-season training ahead of the 2022-23 Premier League season.

The Old Trafford outfit are currently working on a number of deals as they look to improve their squad under new manager Erik ten Hag.

Frenkie de Jong

United and Barcelona have agreed on a €65 million guaranteed fee for Frenkie de Jong but still need to work on the €20 million add-ons structure. Personal terms also need to be ironed out with the Dutch midfielder.

De Jong reportedly wants to stay at Barça and has a contract at the club until 2026. He previously played under Ten Hag at Ajax, something that could swing the move in United’s favour.

Tyrell Malacia

Malacia became the club’s first signing of the summer on Tuesday. The 22-year-old left-back was close to a move to Lyon but United have agreed to pay €15 million to Feyenoord plus €2 million in add-ons. The Dutch international defender has agreed personal terms with the club on a four-year deal.

Christian Eriksen

United are on the verge of signing Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen. The 30-year-old had an impressive spell with Brentford in 2021-22 and is set to complete his move to Old Trafford over the coming days. He will sign for Ten Hag’s side until 2025.

Lisandro Martínez

Erik ten Hag is keen to sign Argentina international Lisandro Martínez to strengthen the club’s defence ahead of the new season. The player wants to leave Dutch champions Ajax. Arsenal are also trying to complete a deal for the 24-year-old centre-back.

Ajax winger Antony has also been linked with a move to the Premier League side. Should the transfer go through, his first club São Paulo will be entitled to a portion of the fee, which could be in the region of £50 million. The 22-year-old’s current deal at Ajax runs until 2025.

Premier League 2022-23

United’s 2022-23 Premier League season gets underway on 7 August when they welcome Brighton to Old Trafford. Before then they have a run of pre-season friendlies. Their final friendly will be at home to La Liga side Rayo Vallecano in Manchester on 31 July.
