Who are the 10 most valuable players in Liga MX Apertura 2023?
Five Mexican players appear in a top 10 led by striker Julián Quiñones, Club América’s new signing from Liga MX rivals Atlas.
Club América made the biggest transfer-market splash in the Liga MX during the off-season, the 13-time champions snapping up Julián Quiñones, a striker who is currently the joint-most valuable player in the Mexican game.
Quiñones and Gorrarián lead the way
The Colombian shares that honour with Fernando Gorriarán, who was a central figure in Tigres’ title triumph in the Clausura 2023 tournament.
According to the latest update provided by the market-worth specialists Transfermarkt, Quiñones and Gorriarán both have an estimated value of €9 million ($9.9 million).
Quiñones shone at América’s fellow Liga MX club Atlas, playing a key role in the Guadalajarans’ back-to-back league championships in the Apertura 2021 and Clausura 2022. The 26-year-old scored 36 goals in 83 games in all competitions for Atlas, exploits that saw his value rise by €6 million ($6.6 million).
Meanwhile, Uruguay international Gorriarán has established himself as one of the best midfielders in Mexico’s top flight. The former Santos Laguna player, who joined Tigres in December, missed just two games in the Clausura 2023 regular season as Los Auriazules secured their eighth domestic title.
Gorriarán’s fellow Uruguayan, Toluca’s Maximiliamo Araújo, completes the podium in Transfermarkt’s ranking. Araújo is valued at €8.5m ($9.3 million),
Quartet of clubs dominate transfer-value ranking
América, Tigres, Chivas Guadalajara and Pachuca each have two players in Transfermarkt’s top 10 - a state of affairs that underlines the quality of the squads they boast. In addition to Quiñones, América have Álvaro Fidalgo, whose expected price tag is currently estimated at €7 million ($7.7 million).
Tigres’ Gorriarán is joined on the list by Samir Caetano (€7 million), and Chivas’ representatives are Alexis Vega (€7.5 million/$8.2 million) and Víctor Guzmán (€7 million).
Pachuca’s highly-valued pair are Erick Sánchez and Luis Chávez, who are both rated at €8m ($8.8 million).
