How did De Bruyne meet his wife, Michele Lacroix?
The Belgian midfielder is married to Michele Lacroix, and according to De Bruyne himself, their relationship only began because one of his friends basically took control of the situation. Not that he’s sad about that now!
Long before he became one of soccer’s biggest stars, De Bruyne spotted Lacroix interacting with one of his posts on social media while he was out on loan at SV Werder Bremen from Chelsea FC. Rather than confidently sliding into her DMs, he panicked.
Speaking in The Players’ Tribune, De Bruyne admitted he thought she would never reply and even said: “People don’t like me. They don’t get me.”
That was when his friend grabbed the phone and hit send for him.
Thankfully for the midfielder, Lacroix replied. The pair spent months getting to know each other through messages before eventually starting a more serious relationship.
What children does Kevin De Bruyne have?
The couple married in 2017 and now have three children together: Mason Milian, Rome and Suri.
Back in 2023 De Bruyne was asked about his bromance with Erling Haaland and joked, “I’m happy with my wife.” For a player who can split defenses with impossible passes he really needed an assist from someone else when it came to securing this romance. Rather refreshing, wouldn’t you agree?
It almost goes without saying that you can find Michele on Instagram sharing pictures and stories with and, mainly without, her higher-profile husband.
“She changed my life in so many ways,” De Bruyne said about Lacroiz. “Honestly, I don’t know what I would do without her.”
Michele was there in Qatar showing family support, and no doubt will be cheering on at World Cup 2026.
