Liverpool were on an extraordinary run at home in the Premier League, and had not lost for 29 consecutive games.

That run ended on April 14 2024 when Crystal Palace got a shock win in the league at Anfield, as the London side surprised everyone, scoring in the 14th minute thanks to Eze and holding on for the three points.

The loss saw Liverpool drop to third in the league.

Before that, the last team to beat Liverpool at Anfield in the Premier League was Leeds United, back on October 29, 2022.

Who played when Liverpool last lost at home?

That day, Liverpool played with a full-strength team, but it was not enough to get past a Leeds side led by Gregg Berhalter’s best friend, Jesse Marsch.

Rodrigo Moreno scored for the away side after just 4 minutes before Mo Salah equalised ten minutes later. From then on, it was an onslaught from Klopp’s team, with Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier making save after save to keep his side in the game.

USMNT captain Tyler Adams patrolled the Whites’ midfield that also featured Brenden Aaronson, but it was Dutch winger Crysencio Summerville who grabbed a late winner on 89 minutes to give Leeds a rare three points.

The US-heavy squad and its manager went on to win just four more league games until the end of the season and were relegated to the second division, with even a Weston McKennie loan in January unable to turn the sinking ship around.

Liverpool played Leeds again during that time and got their revenge in April, smashing their opponents 1-6 at Elland Road. McKennie did play in that game. Soon after Leeds went down, Marsch - who was sacked at the turn of the year - starred in a very long ‘masterclass’ video explaining the tactics behind the game that started a winning run for one side and a losing run for the other.

Back to this season. The nerves on Merseyside may be pulsating like quasars but the fans in red can be safe in the knowledge that the have a huge list of defeated teams behind them as they continue their push for the title. The game at Anfield kicks off at 2:30 p.m. ET/11.30 p.m. PT. Remember, you can watch a live stream of the game on Peacock.
