Update:

Coming into the quarter-final second leg, Liverpool held a very positive advantage, a 3-1 victory from the game in Portugal. And with the return match in the intimidating Anfield stadium, few were putting their money on Benfica turning things around. Despite a couple of late goals, to level things up on the night 3-3, the final result was never really in doubt.

So, with things going to plan for the team that is striving to win an unprecedented four titles in one season - the Premier League, Champions League, and both domestic cups (one already being safely stored in the bulging trophy cabinet) - who now stands in their way from reaching a Parisian final?

Yellow Submarine await Beatles’ home team

Villarreal is the answer, and one that was not expected by even the most optimistic of their fans at the start of this season. Unai Emery has done a tremendous job with the resources at his disposal and a single goal home victory over the mighty Bayern Munich was followed on Tuesday night with a 1-1 draw in Bavaria. That was enough to see them through to the two-legged semi-final against the strongly backed Reds.

No doubt the players and fans of the Spanish club affectionately known as The Yellow Submarine will be thrilled to take the challenge of the six-time European champions that are home to The Beatles.
