How much money Atlético Madrid earned for reaching the Champions League semi-finals

Atlético de Madrid await their semi-final opponent. After defeating Barça 3–2 on aggregate in a historic tie, Diego Simeone’s side have secured their place among the final four. Alongside the sporting achievement comes a substantial financial reward from UEFA. Their next opponent will be decided in Wednesday’s clash between Arsenal and Sporting CP at 3:00 PM ET.

Sporting success often brings financial rewards. Up to this point, the Madrid club had earned a total of $38.9 million from their performances in the competition. However, after eliminating FC Barcelona and progressing to the semi-finals, Atlético will receive a further $16.4 million.

This income provides a significant boost to the club’s finances at a crucial stage of the season. Reaching this phase of the tournament also reinforces the club’s long-term project, placing them within touching distance of their first UEFA Champions League final in a decade and giving them renewed momentum.

Should Atlético reach the final in Budapest, they would earn an additional $20.2 million. If they go on to win the competition and lift the trophy, they would receive a further $7.1 million bonus. These figures do not include the considerable additional revenue generated from ticket sales and other income streams associated with reaching the semi-finals.
