Why is Lamine Yamal not playing for Spain today against Serbia?

The Barcelona winger returned to the Catalan city before the rest of his teammates.

Update:

Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal will not play for Spain against Serbia due to an injury he picked up against Denmark in the previous friendly of the current international break.

After playing a tough game against Denmark where he was the recipient of plenty of hard challenges, video footage was captured of the youngster limping as he left the ground.

The winger underwent tests at Spain’s Las Rozas training camp before returning to Barcelona where the injury news was confirmed: he has suffered a strain in his left hamstring.

However, despite the diagnosis, the player is not expected to miss any matches for his club and will likely be included in Hansi Flick’s squad for the upcoming LaLiga game against Sevilla this weekend.

After 3 games played so far, La Selección sit top of their group in the Nations League, on 7 points, while Serbia are in third on 6. A win for Spain would solidify their place at the top and increase the gap against Denmark, in second.
