Tottenham striker Harry Kane is open to signing a new deal at the London club amid reported interest from Manchester United, reports The Athletic’s David Ornstein.

The England international has 18 months left on his contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and no talks have taken place since August 2021 after a move to United’s rivals Manchester City failed to materialise.

He was City’s main target and he pushed for a move, but without success. Erling Haaland was then signed by City and Kane has no longer been linked with a move to the Etihad.

Tottenham’s season, their recruitment and prospects of success as well as the offer they put on the table for Kane will be factors in deciding where his future lies.

Reports in the UK suggest that United have been monitoring the 29-year-old’s situation with the Old Trafford outfit looking for a new No 9.

United recently signed Dutch international Wout Weghorst on loan from Burnley until the end of the season, something looks like it could be just a short-term solution.

The Athletic add that Kane is eager to succeed with Spurs, however, if the parties fail to come to an agreement on a new deal, Spurs must decide whether to sell their captain this summer to avoid losing him on a free transfer next year.

Bayern also linked with Kane

The other team aiming to compete with United for Kane’s services is Bayern Munich, who consider Kane as a perfect replacement for Robert Lewandowski, but they failed to close a deal last summer.

Kane has 17 goals in 28 appearances in all competitions this season and is second only to goalscoring machine Haaland in the race for the Premier League Golden Boot.

Tottenham face Fulham in the Premier League on Monday night.
