Normally, in the days leading up to El Clásico, the media is awash with so-called analysis of every tiny detail with even the most strenuous link to the biggest game in world football.
Anything from pre-match rituals to washing machine cycles is fair game in the week before the match, yet this time I must admit I almost forgot. It was almost as though there was something even bigger getting in the way, but I can’t think what.
Anyway, back to the football. You’ll have to look elsewhere for housework schedules, because here we’re focussing on the biggest football-related story of the week: Kylian Mbappé’s fitness.

Will Mbappé play in El Clásico?
The French forward has not been exempt from the swirling mass of flammable material orbiting around the celestial body that is Real Madrid.
In fact, he’s been at the centre of plenty of it, with his injured body still managing to make it all the way to Italy for a sweet few days away with his new partner.
But he’s back in Madrid now, and trained with the squad today as the Teletubbies sun periodically giggled between passing rainclouds. While he’s not necessarily expected to start the game and play 90 minutes in Barcelona, Mbappé will be in the squad for the game and should see some time on the pitch.
Real Madrid, in a statement, confirmed that Arda Güler trained individually, while Carvajal, Mendy, Militaão, Rodrygo, and Valverde all continued their personal recovery processes.
