Update:

The United States men’s national team (USMNT) is one of numerous World Cup participants on Saturday’s slate of international friendlies, as the 2026 co-host welcomes Germany to Illinois for a high-profile match-up.

The USMNT takes on the four-time world champion at Chicago’s Soldier Field, in a game that represents a final tournament tune-up for both teams.

Mauricio Pochettino leads the USMNT into this weekend’s clash after overseeing a 3-2 win over Senegal in Charlotte on May 31, in the team’s first friendly since the head coach named his 26-man roster last week.

Champion in Texas tune-up

Also among the notable nations in action on Saturday is Argentina, the World Cup title holder. Lionel Scaloni’s men face their penultimate pre-tournament test, taking on Honduras in College Station, Texas.

Meanwhile, five-time winner Brazil completes its World Cup preparations with a friendly against Egypt in Cleveland, Ohio, and 1966 champion England faces New Zealand in Tampa, Florida, in its second-to-last friendly. UEFA Nations League holder Portugal also plays its penultimate warm-up, hosting Chile in Oeiras.
