"Mou? When everything went well, we could do no wrong"
Porto’s keeper spoke about his relationship with the Portuguese manager in a clip from Bertín Osborne’s TV show ‘My place or yours?’
Iker Casillas opened the doors of his home in Porto to Spanish singer, actor and TV presenter Bertín Osborne for his weekly cookery programme, "En la tuya o en la mía" (My place or yours?) due to air on RTVE channel La1 next week.
The Spain captain didn’t dodge a question about his working relationship with José Mourinho: "Our relationship started to change when the team began to stall in the 2012-2013 season. And you know how these things evolve – when everything’s going well we can do no wrong – we’re all tall, handsome – basically we’re the dog’s bollocks. But when things are going badly, all of a sudden it’s what’s all this? What’s all that?... In the end, it’s precisely during those moments when we you have to be more united than ever".
Iker also talked about the kids who started out at the same time as him, dreaming of becoming a professional footballer. "That’s reality. The reality isn’t that Iker, Raúl or Guti made it. The reality is that out of 300 kids, one realizes their dreams and 299 dreams are left by the wayside".
About famously kissing Sara Carbonero live on air after winning the World Cup. "The applause you could hear in the background was from the current Spanish monarchs! Felipe and Letizia loved it".
Sara later made it clear that all that glitters is not gold: "That kiss might have made it seem that everything’s perfect for us, but nobody is perfect and I certainly am not".
