Ramos, Modric and Varane head in to train on their day off
The morning after the 0-1 derby defeat a number of Real Madrid first-team players reported for training, despite being given the day off by Zidane.
The morning after Real Madrid’s 0-1 derby defeat to neighbours Atlético, seven first team players headed to the Valdebebas training complex, despite being given the day off by coach Zinedine Zidane. Sergio Ramos, Modric and Varane all turned up for an extra training session, despite starting and playing a full 90 minutes against Atlético. They were also joined by Lucas Vázquez, who featured for 34 minutes in the derby, and Nacho and Casemiro, who both started in the bench. Despite being included in the squad but not featuring in the Benabéu, Arbeloa also joined his team-mates for training.
Bale and Marcelo, currently sidelined through injury, also went in to continue their respective recovery schedules, as did Benzema, who was in the hands of the club physios after being forced off at half-time in Saturday's defeat.
