At the age of 35, Aritz Aduriz has scored 30 goals this season, the best return of his entire career, and explained during an interview with Spanish broadcaster #0 the keys to his longevity and the form that has seen him emerge as a serious contender to lead the Spanish line at the European Championship in France this summer.

Goals: “The number of goals I’ve scored has been made possible by having an incredible team around you, who make things easier for you. You don’t think about statistics much when you’re on the pitch. European Championship: “That’s still a long way off. I have plans for this weekend in Gijón and that’s about it. June is a way off and we still have a lot of nice objectives to play for at Athletic. It wouldn’t be right at this stage of the season if my mind was on other things.”

Retirement at Real Sociedad? “Our paths haven’t crossed. I am from San Sebastián and I always want La Real to do well, but I’m very happy at Athletic. I’ve got a contract until the end of next season, so…”
