Gio dos Santos: "Winning the MLS Cup is a major ambition"

The Mexican striker is expected to reappear as LA Galaxy face Portland Timbers tonight. Last team both sides played, Portland ran out 2-5 winners.

Mexican star. Giovani dos Santos spoke to MLS.com as part of the "Hablando con"  series.

Tonight LA Galaxy face Portland Timbers at the StubHub Centre and Galaxy will be without Robbie Keane and Steven Gerrard but good news for the LA side is the expected return of Dos Santos who will be anxious to seek revenge as the last time both sides faced off it was the Oregon based side who won out 2-5 on their way to lifting MSL Cup 2015.

How has your experience with Bruce Arena been ?

“He's a fantastic coach with great experience. He's been a key figure for US Soccer and recently with the Galaxy. It's a privilege to work with someone who is a legendary  figure in the sport here”.

How has been your MLS experience to date?

“I've only played in a few MLS, games as I joined LA in August last year and am now in my second season. I'm full of anticipation for the new season and would love to think we could win titles this year".

LA Galaxy play Portland Timbers tonight. What do you remember of the last time you faced the Timbers?

“We know we're facing the current champions. When we last faced other we played really poorly and we hope to make amends for this on Sunday”.

Would you like to play again with your brother Jonathan dos Santos?

“Of course, that would be another dream come true. It would be a wonderful thing for me nit just in a professional capacity but on a personal level too”.

What can you remember from your debut with FC Barcelona?

“It was magical and one of the best moments of my carear. It was a privilege to share a dressing room with some of the great names in football" 

What can LA Galaxy fans expect from you this season?

“I hope the best of me as I feel I'm at the pinnacle of my carear  and am anxious to keep working hard to keep improving”.
