Real Madrid's Marco Asensio: Espanyol out to extend loan deal
Los Pericos have confirmed that they are to speak to Real with a view to the 20-year-old spending a second season on loan at the RCDE Stadium.
The transfer ins and outs have begun at Espanyol following the conclusion of the LaLiga season, with the Barcelona-based side confirming that on-loan trio Giedrius Arlauskis, Jorge Franco 'Burgui' and Enzo Roco are to return to their parent clubs.
Los Pericos have opted not to activate the purchase options included in each of the players' temporary deals, which expire on 30 June. They will take part in the squad's post-season tour of Bolivia before going back to Watford, Real Madrid and O'Higgins, respectively.
In a statement published on their official website on Tuesday, the Catalan outfit thanked all three "for their dedication to the club during the campaign", wishing them "the best of luck for the future in their sporting careers".
Meanwhile, one loanee Espanyol hope will be at the RCDE Stadium next term is Marco Asensio, like Burgui owned by Real. Los Blanquiazules did not negotiate an option to buy the starlet as part of his season-long move to the side in August 2015, but they have revealed that they wish to look into the possibility of Asensio spending a second year there.
For the time being, the former Real Mallorca man will link back up with Real and begin pre-season training under Bernabéu boss Zinedine Zidane. Los Blancos are expected to make a decision later in the summer over whether the 20-year-old is to remain in the capital in 2016/17 or be sent out on loan again.
