Arbeloa all-but ruled out of the Champions League final
Real published the right-back’s medical report: “Álvaro Arbeloa has been diagnosed with a minor sprain in his left knee,” although the length of his layoff was not confirmed.
Álvaro Arbeloa could have already waved goodbye to playing any part in the Champions League final against neighbours Atlético Madrid. Real Madrid released part of the right-back’s medical report on Thursday, which specified a “minor sprain in his left knee”.
Despite the fact that the club did not state how long the injury would keep Arbeloa sidelined, the former Liverpool and Spain defender is unlikely to be deemed fit for the upcoming final on 28 May.
Initially, Arbeloa didn’t feature among Zidane plans for the game, although the player had harboured hopes for a place in the squad and as defensive cover from the bench.
Arbeloa’s contract with Real Madrid concludes at the end of this season, and the player has already announced his departure this summer. His last minutes in a white shirt, and possibly his swan song, came at the Bernabéu against Valencia on 8 May, where he was warmly received by the Madrid faithful.
