The Spanish Institute for Lgbtfobia has registered a formal complaint to the State Anti-Violence in Sport Commission to denounce Sevilla FC's Daniel Carriço and the Andalucian club for the homophobic insults which referee Carlos del Cerro Grande in Sunday's Copa del Rey final against FC Barcelona.

According to the report which the Observatory published in a statement today, the incident took  place after the Sevilla player had been sent off on 116 minutes. "Carriço shouted in a very obvious way, from distance, calling the ref 'a poof'".

For Observatory president, Paco Ramírez, the violation is "truly shameful and reprochable; according to the Sports Law (19/2007) it is punishable" adding, "These kind of things are happing all the time at Spanish stadiums and neither the authorities nor the clubs are doing anything to eradicate homophobia in Spanish football".
